Did you know that U.S Department of Energy had issued new lamp efficiency rules?
The new rules will take effect on July 14, 2012 and will basically eliminate products with the lowest efficiency. In the case of fluorescent lamps, equivalent-performance products are readily available, such as T8 lamps, and the market is expected to shift to that and other technologies. In the case of incandescent reflector lamps, only a few equivalent-performance products are readily available that complies with the regulations. Price increases can be minimized by using long-life lamps, high-efficiency ballasts, high-lumen lamps, reflectors, and occupancy sensors in retrofit projects.
So instead of the increase of operating cost it can be an opportunity to create systems with greater energy savings, less cost, and quicker payback.
